Christine Umesi, fondly known as Krystal Krys, transitioned from boardrooms to the spotlight when she joined the cast of the reality TV programme, Models on the Island Season 11.
A Human Resources Manager and a model before the competition, Krystal took a bold step after seeing the show’s flyer online.
“I applied without knowing what to expect, and to my surprise, I made it into the house,” she recalls.
The 20-day reality show brought together 20 contestants, each with unique personalities and backgrounds.
For Krystal, it was both a challenging and transformative journey. “It was a wonderful and amazing experience, but it was also hectic. Living with people you don’t really know is tough. I had to learn patience and how to tolerate different behaviors,” she said. However, her professional experience in HR helped her adapt. “My job has trained me to handle people, and that gave me an edge. I did have a few outbursts, but overall, I blended in well.”
What set Krystal apart was her boldness and talent. “I don’t know if I stood out to everyone, but I gave my best during the tasks and tried to let my strengths shine,” she said. Her commitment and resilience were noticed by the viewers, and the votes kept her in the house.

“From the beginning, I could see that Krysatl was focused. I always tell contestants, it’s not just about winning, it’s about what you take away. She listened, learned, and improved tremendously.”
With a movie project secured as part of her win, Krystal plans to pursue acting more seriously.
