Mining Marshals have struck a major blow against illegal mining in Nigeria, dismantling a heavily guarded site in Rafin Gabas, Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Even with compromised security protecting it, the Marshals, led by Commander John Attah Onoja, pulled off a smart, well-planned raid. They arrested three foreign nationals tied to the illegal work.

Dr. Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, called it a “crucial milestone” in cleaning up the mining sector. His SA Media, Mr. Segun Tomori, shared this in a statement. “We are committed to cracking down on illegal mining operations and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable,” Alake said.

The site is now sealed. A manhunt is on for suspects who got away. The team is also probing any security staff who helped the operation. The company behind it, plus some fugitives, already face charges in the Federal High Court, Abuja.
