Super Eagles legend, John Obi-Mikel hopes that “there is a door open” for Victor Osimhen at Arsenal this summer.
He suggests that Manchester United could still land the Nigerian striker, despite the lack of European football on offer for next season.
Osimhen is set to return to Napoli after a loan spell at Galatasaray in Turkey, where he scored 37 goals in 41 appearances.
The former Chelsea midfielder is eager to see Osimhen move to Stamford Bridge this summer, especially after a potential transfer fell through at the last minute last year.
“I hope there is still a Premier League move for him this summer,” Mikel told Metro. “I think clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United still need a striker. I don’t think Rasmus Hojlund is the right fit for Manchester United. He runs around and works hard but he is not the player who will score goals, help them reach the top four, and win trophies. So, for me, Manchester United might be his destination.
“I don’t want to see him in Saudi Arabia right now because he still has so much to offer in Europe. It would be a shame to see him go there. Perhaps Arsenal, United, Juventus, or PSG could be his options. Let’s see what happens.”
“I’ve had a few conversations with him. I won’t divulge too much about those discussions, but he is working hard to ensure he ends up in a top European league where he can showcase his talent and compete for the Champions League.”
