Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has tasked new medical doctors on the need to abide by the ethics of the medical profession.
The task was given by the Registrar of the Council, Dr. Fatima Kyari during the 3rd induction ceremony of Gregory University, Uturu (GUU), Abia State.
Represented by Dr. Tijjani Mandaka, Dr. Kyari commended the management and staff of the University for producing high quality graduates, adding that the school has come of age.
She charged the new Doctors to maintain high level of responsibility in the discharge of their life saving duties, adding that the Federal Ministry of Health and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigerian are working in synergy to ensure that Nigerians get the best medical services.
Dr. Kyari encouraged the Doctors to ensure they maintain the ethics of the medical profession by avoiding any unwholesome practices that may attract them heavy sanctions from the MDCN.
She admonished them to be respectful to senior Medical Doctors under whose guidance they will work with and to ensure they don’t dabble into the field that is not theirs.
The Founder of the University, Professor Gregory Ibe had said the establishment of Gregory University Uturu was driven by his vision for massive human empowerment, particularly in medicine.
Ibe, whose address was read by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Uwaoma Kalu Uche said the vision is unfolding with the successful induction of the third batch of medical Doctors.
The Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Okechukwu Gregory Ibe (Jr.), said greatness comes to those who work diligently and possess the string desire to succeed.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Celestina Njoku
charged the new graduates to play key roles in healthcare delivery in the world and to remain good ambassadors of the institution.
She noted that the world is facing new healthcare challenges which require the skills and understanding of medical professionals.
The event witnessed the induction of 83 new doctors into the medical profession as Dr. Chidera Ugoh emerged the best graduating Medical Doctor.
