The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (MCO) has honoured six retirees and a former director for their significant contributions to the agency’s mandate and their commitment to excellence.

The ceremony, held at the MCO conference hall in Abuja, recognised their role in advancing national growth through the mining sector.

MCO Director-General, Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, presented certificates and plaques of integrity in service during the send-off and appreciation event. He praised the retirees’ efficiency, dedication, proactiveness, and professionalism, stating, “Their legacy has a lasting impact on the agency.” Nkom also acknowledged the former Director of Finance and Accounts, Jacob Olufemi Ayinshola, for his contributions to the MCO’s development.

Furthermore, Nkom expressed confidence that the retirees’ expertise would continue to benefit the agency, noting, “Though retired, they remain part of the MCO family, and their services may still be needed.” He wished them a fulfilling retirement filled with good health.

Representing the retirees, Mr Abraham Oloruntoba thanked the MCO staff and Nkom for their support, saying, “We are grateful for the honour and the Director-General’s unwavering kindness during our years of service.” Similarly, Ayinshola, now Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Works, commended Nkom’s leadership and enthusiasm for advancing the MCO. He credited Nkom’s encouragement for his successful promotion exams and praised the retirees’ steadfastness, adding,

“Despite being retired, they still have roles to play in their families and society, and God will keep them in good health.”

The event, attended by families and loved ones, recognised the following individuals: Mr Abraham Oloruntoba, Surveyor Dakup T. Dawang, Mr Idris Adamu Abubakar, Mr Muhammed A.Y., Mrs Temi Dayo Omosa, Mr Samson Jerry, Mr Jacob Olufemi Ayinshola (former MCO Director of Finance and Accounts), and Mrs Okeke G. Amara.
