The Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, has flagged off the construction of a 4.2km road in Ezinifite, Aguata Local Government Area.
The project is funded by Chief Tony Obele (Okwunze Aguata) as a patriotic response to the clarion call Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for the state’s wealthy philanthropists to key into his Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative.
The project will upon completion feature dual drainage, street lights and road markings. In the words of Mayor Ofobuike, “Developing our local government area is our collective responsibility, an agenda we are pursuing vigorously through the inspiration of Governor Soludo’s Public-Private-Community-Partnership (PPCP) model. We are rising in Aguata LGA, and for us, Impossibility is Nothing.”
Ofobuike flagged off the Ezinifite road construction project in the august presence of revered traditional rulers and community stakeholders.
Chief Obele, one of the biggest-known names in manufacturing and real estate, passionately believes in. Governor Soludo’s drive toward creating a liveable and prosperous Anambra State that will be a destination point instead of a departure lounge.
It is noteworthy that Chief Obele’s road project satisfies Governor Soludo’s prototype road standard. The road is aimed at opening up the vast uncultivated lands in the area and reclaim terrains ravaged by erosion gullies.
The ultimate plan is to link the community to the Amawbia-Agulu-Nanka-Ekwulobia-Uga interstate highway being constructed by Governor Soludo. The new road will go a long way in easing traffic and reducing travel time.
Chief Anthony Ikenna Obele is widely hailed as Okwunze Aguata, a title conferred on him by the traditional rulers of the 14 communities of Aguata LGA. An unassuming manufacturer and entrepreneur, Chief Obele is adoringly called 7-Star-General by his circle of friends on account of his generosity and philanthropy.
The holder of a B.Sc degree in Business Management, he is the pride of his beloved Ezinifite town.
The project contractor and Executive Director of Dubrie Works Ltd, Emeka Ononuju has promised to deliver the road ahead of schedule.
