Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim has singled out Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo for praise after Thursday night’s comfortable win over Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi final second leg match.
Mikel Jauregizar put the Spanish side ahead in the 31st minute at Old Trafford to raise hopes of a comeback after United’s 0-3 victory in the first leg in Spain.
However, Mount scored a brace, with Caesmiro and Rasmus Hojlund also getting on the scorer’s sheet, to secure a convincing victory for United.
Amorim’s side will now face Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English final on May 21.
The Portuguese tactician praised Mount and Mainoo for coming off the bench to make a difference.
He said, “I’m so happy for Mason Mount. I really liked Kobbie Mainoo. Sometimes you are on the bench and you change the game.”
He added, “When you see that kind of guy like Mason working hard every day, eating well, having ice baths, when you have this kind of player you just want to help him.
“He is perfect for this position as he can be a midfielder, but also runs like a winger, so I’m really happy for him.”
