From Fred Ezeh, Abuja
There was pandemonium in Kurudu area of Abuja yesterday as genital organs of two males persons were declared missing.
The incident created fear among traders, residents, and commuters and forced markets and shops to close abruptly.
An eyewitness told Sunday Sun that the first incident happened in the morning, while the second one happened in the evening of the same day. It took the intervention of the Kurudu Police Division to prevent jungle justice.
Mrs. Arinze Chetachi, a trader in Kurudu market, confirmed that the first incident involved a Fulani man who raised the alarm that his genital organ had been snatched following a handshake with an unknown man, while the second incident involved a yet-to-be-identified man.
Another trader also narrated a similar account but however, added that “the man was smart to have quickly noticed the development and identified the man immediately who quickly returned the penis after the pressure from the people.”
“It took the intervention of the police for that man to have escaped being lynched. The Police had to use teargas to disperse the crowd that gathered to carry out jungle justice on the man.”
“However, when the victim insisted that he must confirm that the genital was working, he was led to a nearby brothel for confirmation. He expressed satisfaction before he left.”
He confirmed that the Police had taken custody of the accused person alongside several other people who were picked up for further investigation.
Lately, the case of missing male genital organs has been on the rise. Similar incidents have been reported in areas like Karu, Maraba, Gwagwa, Lugbe, Kubwa, among several places.
Men are now apprehensive of shaking hands with unknown persons while also adopting precautionary measures like putting garlic and pepper in their pockets to ward off the dangers of being a victim.
