The just concluded 2025 editions of WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos delivered a powerful boost to West Africa’s healthcare sector and reinforcing the event’s role as a key platform for healthcare innovation, investment, and policy dialogue.
Held at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, the three-day gathering brought together more than 8,000 professionals and nearly 500 exhibitors from across Africa and beyond, reflecting growing global interest in the region’s healthcare transformation.
Now in its 12th year and rebranded from Medic West Africa and Medlab West Africa, WHX Lagos offered a unified experience for stakeholders across healthcare delivery, diagnostics, digital health, and policy. Attendees explored the latest advancements in medical imaging, AI-powered health technologies, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics highlighting an urgent drive to build more resilient and patient-focused health systems.
At the opening event, Chairman, 10th Senate Committee on Health, Sen. Ipalibo Banigo emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in driving sustainable healthcare reform and praised WHX for creating a platform that fosters investment and policy-driven impact.
Also, Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi noted the event’s continued growth and significance, describing it as a key fixture in Lagos State’s health calendar and a model for building inclusive healthcare systems.
Senior Exhibition Director at Informa Markets, Tom Coleman, described the 2025 edition as a turning point for the WHX platform. “What began over a decade ago has evolved into a future-facing platform that unites healthcare delivery, diagnostics, and investment under one roof. With over 500 exhibitors and a vibrant mix of global and regional voices, WHX Lagos is now an innovation engine for African healthcare.”
Participation from government, private sector, and academia underscored the event’s significance. Other notable speakers included Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako; and key figures from Nigeria’s healthcare industry such as Njide Ndilii, Dr. Pamela Ajayi, Donald Ofili, and Prof. Christian Happi.
The exhibition featured cutting-edge offerings from leading companies including Siemens Healthineers, GE Healthcare, Roche, Uni-Medical, Crown Healthcare, and Dedalus. Also, business deals and partnerships were initiated during the event, reinforcing WHX’s role as a powerful commercial platform. Attendees also participated in curated networking sessions designed to encourage long-term collaboration and sector-wide impact.
As West Africa accelerates efforts toward health equity and digital transformation, WHX Lagos 2025 concluded with a strong message: ‘the region’s healthcare future depends on innovation, partnership, and continued investment. The WHX platform is poised to remain at the center of this progress.’
