…Tasks him on rural roads
Moved by giant strides of Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, especially in the health sector where he recently approved recruitment of 771 healthcare workers, Labour Party (LP) stalwart in the state Chief Iheanyichukwu Ugochukwu popularly known as Prince Ugo has showerd encomiums on the governor describing the move as workers days gift to Abians.
In a great move aimed at strengthening the healthcare system in Abia State, the Governor, Dr Alex Otti also approved a new salary structure and recruitment drive to boost the morale and capacity of healthcare professionals in the state.
A press statement signed by Prince Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information, noted that effective May 1, 2025, the Abia State Health Workers Salary Scale (ASHWOSS) will be implemented This new scale aligns with the Federal Government’s salary structures for healthcare professionals specifically, the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for doctors and the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, optometrists, medical laboratory scientists, radiographers, and other allied health workers.
This significant move ensures that Abia State health workers will now earn salaries equal to their counterparts at the federal level, a major milestone in Governor Otti’s health-focused reform agenda.
In a statement, Chief Ugochukwu calls on Abians to give the governor massive support as he moves to entrench good governance in the state.
On governance at the rural areas, Chief Ugochukwu urges the governor to also give attention to agrarian communities across the state.
” Sometime ago, I appealed to Governor Otti on the condition of Amaewu Amamba in Uzuakoli. Many houses and arable farmlands have been consumed by the erosion. I once again called on the governor to come to the aid of the community by urgently checking the encroachment of erosion and reclaiming of lands devastated by the menace.”
