LP candidate flays PDP says party failed Enugu people

From Magnus Eze, Enugu

Labour Party (LP) candidate for Enugu East Senatorial District in Saturday’s poll, Kevin Chukwu, has upbraided the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State for failing to meet the basic needs of residents of the state.

The candidate who recently replaced his slain elder brother, Oyibo Chukwu in the senatorial race, told Daily Sun that the Labour Party has brought a new deal which will transform Enugu State.

He appealed to residents of the zone to come out en masse to vote for him and other LP candidates at the polls, adding that the party will bring the needed positive change in the state.

He said: “The PDP government we have in Enugu is more concerned about frivolities. They are not bothered about things that bother the minds of the ordinary citizens. We of the Labour Party are saying, enough is enough. Let them try us. We are bringing a new message to them.

“So, that when we take over the government, they will see changes because we are out to bring development to them. It is not mere words; we are out to bring development to them. They will be sure of laws that will bring development to their doorsteps.

“For instance, if you look at our education, it is nothing to write home about. Recently, there was ASUU strike and the students stayed back at home for almost 8 months. That is unacceptable. I am going to join in making laws that will bring an end to that. I will be part of laws that will bring development to Enugu State and to my constituency in particular.

“It is not making laws; I know the legislators have oversight functions. I am assuring you that I will bring development to my people and make changes that will be remarkable.”
