The Love of God in Christ (LOGIC) Church marked Good Friday with a powerful gospel music event, the first of its kind for the church and for Lagos, titled “Jesus + Nothing” Worship. Spearheaded by Lead Pastor Apostle Flourish Peters, the event centered on the profound theme of redemption solely through Jesus Christ.

The LOGIC Church’s headquarters in Lekki, Lagos, became a hub for over 2,000 attendees who gathered in person, while the service was also broadcast live across the church’s social media platforms, extending its reach to a global audience.

The worship experience featured a dynamic lineup of prominent Nigerian gospel artists, all members of The LOGIC Church. The stage came alive with performances by Victor Thompson, Timi Dakolo, Greatman Takit, Neon Adejo, SMJ, Noble G, Steve Hills, Lily Perez, Joxie, Anderson Qozan, Pastor Victor Paul, EmekaSongz, Flo, Dorcas Moore, Magpsalms, Mera Owili, Gerald Bishung, Phebe Lion, and the energetic Evolution Children’s Choir.

Prior to the event, Apostle Flourish Peters articulated the driving force behind this unique gathering. He emphasized the concept of “lyrical theology,” explaining his vision to utilize music as a potent medium for conveying the pure and unadulterated Gospel of God’s grace.

“While many effectively spread the message of God’s grace globally through various means, our aim for this Good Friday evening was slightly different: to invite people to connect with the essence of redemption through song,” Apostle Flourish shared. “Our focus was on songs saturated with the significance of Jesus’s sacrifice, His blood, and all that He has accomplished for us. We are intentionally singing about redemption, embedding the Gospel of God’s grace within the melodies and lyrics.”

He underscored the lasting impact of music, stating, “A spoken message might fade, but a message woven into a song tends to stay with you. People may forget sermons, but songs often remain etched in their minds. This highlights the profound influence of music in ministry.”

Apostle Flourish further emphasized the deliberate inclusion of artists from within his congregation, highlighting the church’s commitment to nurturing and showcasing its own talent. The overarching aim, he explained, is to shape lives through music that authentically reflects God’s love and the complete work of Christ on the cross, delivered through the voices of their own ministers.

The carefully curated song selection for the event revolved around the core tenets of redemption, the new identity believers find in Christ, and the boundless love of God. “We felt a need for more songs that deeply explore God’s love and the profound truth that Christ’s unwavering love, not merely physical constraints, kept Him on the cross,” Pastor Flourish elaborated, referencing Romans 5:8 to emphasize God’s demonstrated love through Christ’s sacrificial death. “We desired to hear and sing songs that articulate the transformative impact of Christ’s crucifixion for humanity.”

For Apostle Flourish, the ultimate aspiration of the “Jesus + Nothing” Worship was the salvation of souls. “Our primary goal is to usher Jesus into the hearts of individuals. While broader appeal or creating excitement would be welcome, our central focus remains the salvation of humankind,” he affirmed. “If the true meaning of Easter is missed, we trust that this worship experience will spiritually and emotionally re-enact the finished work of the cross within them.”

Responding positively to the idea of a curated playlist featuring the evening’s songs for streaming platforms, Apostle Flourish expressed enthusiasm. “That’s definitely something we can explore. I’d like to discuss the concept further with our artists, but it’s a fantastic suggestion,” he acknowledged. “A playlist capturing the essence of tonight’s worship, featuring the talents of PVP, SMJ, Timi, and everyone involved, could be a powerful way to extend its impact.”

This potential playlist holds the promise of amplifying the event’s message, allowing its transformative power to resonate beyond the physical and virtual attendees.

The worship concert offered a powerful and unifying experience, bringing together worshippers both physically and online to celebrate the redemptive power of Jesus Christ through the unifying language of music.
