With a 2-1 loss to Enyimba on Wednesday, Lobi Stars of Makurdi cannot afford to lose another game at a stretch, as they aim to stop current League leaders, Plateau United.
Both teams will lock horns tomorrow at the Aper Aku Stadium, venue of their week 31 match to determine who goes home with the three points at stake.
Lobi are already talking tough ahead of the encounter.
Scorer of Lobi’s only goal Anthony Okpotu believes the defeat to Enyimba was as a result of their inability to pay full concentration towards the dying minutes of the match.
He said there would not be a repeat of such as they aim to stop Plateau in their winning streak.
Lobi Stars were four minutes away from an away win at Enyimba after Anthony Okpotu scored in the 18th minute. It was a sort of crazy four minutes as Enyimba ‘conjured’ a comeback to win 2-1 courtesy Mfon Udoh and Ikechukwu Ibenegbu’s goals.
“We are pained by what happened at Enyimba. It was an unfortunate thing. We were cruising home with a 1-0 away victory before the unexpected happened. Just few minutes to the end of the game, we lost maximum concentration. But I think that will not happen against Plateau. Plateau are a good side and they are on top of the table but we will give them a run for their money”.
Plateau United continued to stay on top spot after beating FC Ifeanyiubah 1-0 at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos on Wednesday.
Emma James scored from the spot on the13th minute. His goal proved just enough for Plateau United to claim a 16th win of the campaign.
