In a remarkable initiative that showcases their unwavering commitment to community service, the Sagamu Metropolitan Lions Club has launched a dual project that addresses both public health and environmental sustainability.

This initiatives were spearheaded by the club’s president,  Oluwakemi Oluwarotimi Toru and  the club’s service chairperson,  Lamidi Dele Tajudeen.

The projects marks a significant milestone as the Lions Club enters the new service year.

The project kicked off with a vital public health campaign focused on cholera awareness and prevention.

In a bustling community outreach effort, the Lions Club members took to Awolowo Market in Sagamu, one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs.

There, they engaged directly with vendors and shoppers, providing essential information about cholera, its causes, symptoms, and prevention strategies.

Their educational efforts included distributing pamphlets and engaging in one-on-one conversations, emphasizing the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene.

But the club’s commitment didn’t end there. The team then turned their attention to environmental stewardship with a focus on the younger generation.

At Methodist Comprehensive Junior School and Makun High School, the lions led an inspiring tree-planting activity.

Students were not only educated about the environmental benefits of trees but also actively participated in planting them, symbolizing a collective commitment to safeguarding the planet.

This dual project is more than just a series of events; it represents a holistic approach to community service.

By addressing both public health and environmental issues, the Sagamu Metropolitan Lions Club demonstrates how targeted actions can have a far-reaching impact.

The cholera awareness campaign aims to protect lives and improve community health, while the tree-planting effort seeks to combat climate change and foster a sense of environmental responsibility among the youth.

President Lion Oluwakemi Oluwarotimi Toru expressed her enthusiasm about the project, stating, “This initiative reflects our dedication to making a difference in our community.

“By tackling cholera and promoting environmental sustainability, we are taking comprehensive steps to build a healthier and greener future for Sagamu”, the club president said.
