Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged members of the newly constituted Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to uphold transparency and fairness in their duties as the state approaches its local government elections.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made the call during the swearing-in ceremony of the LASIEC Chairman, Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile (Rtd), the five commissioners, and three new permanent secretaries for the state civil service.
The event took place at the Banquet Hall of the Governor’s Office in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of democracy by conducting free, fair, and credible elections.
He urged the commission to work closely with all political stakeholders, including opposition parties, to ensure a transparent electoral process.
The governor also assured LASIEC of the state government’s full support in facilitating a credible election.

Governor Sanwo-Olu called on them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and accountability in their roles.
He stated, “You are now role models for the entire public service. Your conduct, both on and off duty, must reflect the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability that we strive to uphold in Lagos State.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also urged the permanent secretaries to provide sound, impartial advice, ensure effective policy implementation, and foster innovation to meet the evolving challenges of public service. “Prioritize service delivery,” he concluded.
“Your primary responsibility is to serve the people of Lagos State with dedication, empathy, and a commitment to excellence.”
The governor expressed confidence in their ability to meet these expectations and contribute significantly to the advancement of Lagos State.
