• Says Nyesom Wike and Ali Patheh stand out as beacons of excellence

From Idu Jude, Abuja

Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Dr Garus Gololo has called on Nigerians to eschew mediocrity when choosing their leaders come 2027 as this would ensure that the right people are made to lead the people.

Dr Gololo, who made the call during an exclusive interview with Daily Sun on Monday, stated that placing religion and ethnicity ahead of national economic development means insincerity and retrogression, which has reared its ugly head over the years regarding Nigeria’s leadership.

He said that for the country to make a positive economic impact, Nigeria should start thinking of the damage religion and ethnicity have done to this country in the past.

The former BOT APC observed that out of 24 cabinet members appointed by President Tinubu, only two have shown good performance and capacity to deliver within the short period of appointments. He stressed that Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, and Minister of Health Professor Ali Patheh, have shown exemplary leadership and both of them are such that Nigerians should have as future leaders.

“This is my views on the performance of ministers within the Tinubu administration. And this has got to teach us why Nigeria is not progressing irrespective of the amount of wealth we have. It is my sincere belief that Prof. Ali Patheh, the Minister of Health, stands out as a beacon of excellence. His tireless efforts have not only revived the Ministry of Health from its previous state of collapse with the mass exodus of medical personnel but have also ensured the seamless functioning of hospitals nationwide. Prof Patheh’s vision to revitalise primary healthcare facilities across Nigeria speaks volumes, promising a future where every Nigerian ward boasts not one, but two fully-equipped primary healthcare centres. This shift eliminates the need for citizens to seek medical treatment abroad, as comprehensive healthcare services are now readily available within our borders. It underscores the wisdom in entrusting professionals with critical tasks.
“I must commend the exceptional efforts of His Excellency Nysome Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. In the wake of his predecessors, Mr Wike has undertaken remarkable strides in rejuvenating the FCT. His dedication and leadership make him a standout figure, arguably the finest minister the FCT has ever seen.”

Dr Gololo, further insisted that recognising the exemplary performance of these two ministers is not just a matter of acknowledgment but a call to action for the remaining 43 ministers. By celebrating excellence, we inspire others to rise from their slumber and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s progress.

“Let us unite in applauding Prof. Ali Patheh and His Excellency Nysome Wike, and in doing so, motivate our government to strive for even greater heights of achievement. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Nigeria.”
