A law firm, O.A.U. Enahoro & Associates, has formally written to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) seeking detailed information on the monthly financial allocations to all Area Councils within the territory.
The firm’s demand, contained in a letter recently shared with the media, was made on behalf of a client, Ogboi Anthony U. Enahoro. Dated June 11, 2025, the request invokes Section 2(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2011.
The lawyers cited the ongoing strike by Area Councils, which began in March 2025, allegedly over the non-payment of their statutory entitlements despite the Minister’s office reportedly disbursing monthly funds.
According to the firm, the move is aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the allocation and disbursement of funds meant for basic services for FCT residents. The request seeks to clarify the financial transactions of the FCT Administration (FCTA) and ensure that Area Councils receive their due allocations.
