A House of Representative lawmaker for Ihitte Uboma, Obowo in Imo State, Chike Okafor, has appealed to the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu to focus on unifying all sections of the country, irrespective of tribes and religion and as well tackling insecurity in his first hundred days in office.

Okafor who made the appeal while interacting with newsmen in Owerri on Tuesday stated that while he is optimistic that the incoming President has all it takes to reform the country’s economy and consolidate the infrastructural efforts of the outgoing administration across the country, he insisted on the urgent need to unite and pacify all aggrieved sections of the people in the country.

He affirmed that deliberate and concerted efforts must be put in place to achieve this within the first hundred days of the administration, stressing that its adherence will pave the way for other challenges to be surmounted.

According to the two-term All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker and a former commissioner for Finance in Imo state, “there has never been a time that the country had been divided along ethnic, religious and tribal lines like witnessed in these past years.

“This has totally destroyed national cohesion, trust and integration, if a state of emergency is not declared on this by the incoming administration, the high hopes of the people in Tinubu might be truncated.

While urging the incoming government to declare total war against insecurity, he opined that the threat against food security and the decline in oil production would be solved.

According to him, aside from the negative effect it has on the economy and GDP of the nation, the number of innocent lives lost has become worrisome and unacceptable.

He however called for massive support for the incoming government by all Nigerians, expressing confidence that the Tinubu administration will fast-track massive human capital development across the country.
