The lawmaker representing Oshodi/ Isolo Constituency 2 in the House of Representatives, Hon. Philip Ikechukwu Onwuka, has tasked all ethnic groups, including the Igbo in his constituency, on the need to strive for peace at all times, especially during and after the Easter holidays.

He noted that a united Igbo will always experience development, adding that development can only be attained and sustained when people were united and speak with one voice.

Onwuka stated this during an Easier townhall with Ndigbo in Oshodi Isolo Constituency 2, which took place at the Igbo House, Ajao Estate Lagos. He urged them to work hard to sustain the Igbo political stronghold of the area so as to properly harness the potential of the area for the good of everyone. He noted that peace-building efforts were essential for sustainable development, adding that development initiatives could only be created and sustained when tension and violence were reduced.

Eze Ndigbo in Ajao Estate, Eze Fred N. Nwajiagu stated that it was high time the leaders realised that they were elected to lead and not rule over the people, noting that Nigeria was not progressing well as it ought to because leaders preferred to be rulers.

“We don’t want rulers. They have scuttled the destinies of many people and that is why we are having a high level of insecurity and banditry across the country. People are being killed on daily basis and most times such killings are blamed on Ndigbo,” Nwajiagu said.
