The lawmaker representing Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State and Chairman, House Committee on intergovernmental affairs, Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu, has flagged off a free medical programme, ‘Health is wealth.’
Nwachukwu, member of the sixth ECOWAS Parliament said the free medical mission is a continuous project aimed at providing health care, including examination by doctors, medical tests and diagnosis and treatment of the constituents at no charge.
The flag-off took place at Orlu Local Government headquarters. Immediately after the flag-off, the doctors, specialists and medical experts started attending to the constituents who came from the three local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
The people received treatments, ranging from deworming, dental care, eye checks and treatments, including distribution of eyeglasses, where they were required.
They were equally tested and treated for malaria, typhoid, high and low blood pressure, high and low sugar levels, cold, cough, pneumonia, rheumatism, asthma, tuberculosis, hepatitis and several other cases.
The medical team drawn from within and outside the country, on May 3, 2024, moved to Oru East Local Government headquarters, where they continued to give out the free medical attention to the constituents with a huge number of people trooping out to receive the free gesture.
The programme started on Saturday, May 4, at Orsu LGA, where the people were tested and treated by the medical team.
