The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has charged graduands of 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 graduands to stand out and be different, they should not be swayed by the appeal of immediate gratification by saying no to invitation that would short-change the system of immediate or pecuniary gains while their hands should embrace hardworking and honest labour.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello made this known at the 26th convocation ceremony of the university for the ward of diplomas, first degrees, postgraduate diplomas and masters degrees tend at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo.
She said “ honesty remains the best policy and there is great reward for diligence. Nature pays diligence. Measure your success by how much you evolve and not necessarily how much you win. It is ok not to win all the time; what is not ok is to lose and never try again.
“ LASU has trained you not just to be great professionals but to be fantastic individuals. I am confident that you have prepared for the challenges ahead and I urge you to be good ambassadors of our dear University in the wider society, having been found worthy both in learning and in character. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
The VC adds “Our expectation is that you will go out there and contribute your quota in proffering solutions to the myriads of problems confronting our world. We live in a world desperate for solution providers. As you know, all spheres of human society are plagued by seemingly intractable crises begging for answers. In the face of daunting economic and social challenges in the health, security, power, education, transportation and manufacturing sectors, you have an opportunity to make a difference. Nigeria is in need of skilled professionals that can be of help to actualizing and promoting her economic prosperity. You are the answers that our nation needs.

Yusuf Aminat Imoitesemeh in her valedictory speech congratulated other first-class graduates and all other graduates for their hard work and perseverance which has indeed paid off.
“ As the saying goes, success is a journey and not a destination and we must consistently thrive towards achieving excellence in every endeavor.
“ Nigerian students have got indomitable spirits but quite disheartening, given the parlous state of affairs in the country. In order to excel, we have to do a lot more compared to our counterparts in other countries. While I struggled financially through my education, I don’t desire such hardships for students coming behind us, especially the female students. I therefor call on well meaning Nigerians to invest in our education.
Aminat promised that she would launch a YouTube channel, titled LLA (Learning Law with Aminat) and my goal is to give back to society through my immediate community by making valuable lessons in compulsory law courses as a supplementary tool to all law students across the country.
