The Lagos Ministry of Transportation, in collaboration with the state’s Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, also known as Taskforce, conducted an enforcement exercise to clear the Berger Bridge of commercial vehicles indiscriminately parked along the corridor.

This was in response to the noncompliance of bus drivers with the state government’s traffic regulations concerning the busy bridge.

The operation followed multiple warnings to bus drivers to desist from using the road infrastructure as an unauthorised park, which has turned the stretch of the bridge into a gridlock point and impeding smooth vehicular movement.

Commenting on the operation, the  Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, emphasised that the State Government will not tolerate the disregard of repeated warnings, reiterating that the State Traffic Laws must be strictly enforced and complied with by all road users across the metropolis.

He further stated that all apprehended bus drivers and impounded vehicles will face penalties in accordance with the 2018 State Traffic Law.

Additionally, the Commissioner expressed confidence that this action which would be consistently monitored would serve as a deterrent to others, as the state government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring orderliness on Lagos roads.
