Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, alongside other key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agege Local Government, has appealed to aggrieved party members to demonstrate sportsmanship and unity following the just-concluded party primaries for the upcoming local government elections.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting in Agege on Sunday, Obasa alongside other leaders of the party in the area, emphasized the importance of unity within the party, noting that internal disagreements are not unusual during election seasons but must be resolved quickly for the sake of party progress.
“We are thinking ahead. The 2027 general elections are far more critical to us, but this local government election is a stepping stone. It’s an opportunity to mobilize and strengthen our base ahead of future contests,” Obasa said.
The Speaker commended the conduct of the primaries, describing them as peaceful, free, and fair.
“The people made their choices. There was no imposition. It’s not possible for a minority to override the majority in our party,” he added.
He urged those dissatisfied with the outcome to set aside their grievances and rally behind the party’s chosen candidates, stressing the importance of collective efforts in securing victory at the polls.
“Some individuals who barely participated in grassroots meetings over the past four years are now raising objections. That’s not how party politics works. You must be present, contribute, and engage consistently if you want to earn support,” Obasa noted.
He reiterated the need for party loyalty and teamwork, calling on all APC members to embrace reconciliation and prepare for the upcoming election with a united front.
Others leaders of the party who appealed to aggrieved members includes, a member of Federal House of Representative, Hon. Wale Ahmed, Agege Local Government Chairman, Ganiu Egunjobi, his counterpart from Orile Agege Local Development Council Area(LCDA), Babatunde Johnson .
Others who were also present at the meeting were, Tajudeen Afolabi, Ayantayo Afolabi .
