Lagos State Government has inaugurated the construction of a 40-bed trauma centre at Ikorodu General Hospital and the construction of 1.6km Lambo Lasunwon road.
Speaking during the inauguration, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the state Deputy Governor, urged residents to take ownership of all government projects.
He pledged that government would undertake more developmental projects in Ikorodu.
Hamzat said: “Ikorodu has received the largest chunk of infrastructural development projects in the state, with about N26 billion in compensation to residents and property owners on Isawo, Igbogbo, and Gberigbe roads.”
He commended House of Representative member representing Ikorodu, Babajimi Benson ,Chairman Committee on Defence, for facilitating various developmental projects to the community and advised others to emulate such.
The deputy governor assured that in nine months, the 40-bed trauma centre would be completed and ready for use.
Hamzat urged the people to elect representatives of credible characters in order to enjoy dividends of democracy.
Earlier in his address, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, extended his appreciation to the state government and appealed for more developmental projects especially the completion of the ultra-modern central market.
In his remarks, Taiwo Hassan, Managing Director , Ikorodu General Hospital noted that the trauma centre, would reduce mortality rate among residents.
“The hospital was established in 1956 with four departments that has now increased to 32 departments.23,000 patients visit the hospital every month, 16,000 out of them are trauma related sickness.
“We thank the lawmaker because this centre will go a long way in reducing motality rate,” he said.
