In a related development on 30 June 2024, the command’s tracking unit, acting on a tip-off, apprehended Soliu Jimoh, 33. Jimoh was wanted for the habitual theft of electrical cables and fittings from buildings under construction in the Gaa Ajanaki area of Ilorin. Wires and tools used in his operations were recovered upon his arrest.

Additionally, on 28 June 2024, Ganiyu Yusuf Olalekan, 38, was arrested for defrauding Ibrahim Mustapha of 4.5 million Naira. An investigation revealed Olalekan to be a scammer who defrauds unsuspecting members of the public for financial gain.

All suspects have confessed to the crimes and will be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction once investigations are completed.

NSCDC Kwara State Commandant, Dr Umar JG Mohammed, assured the public that the corps would continue to combat criminality in the state.

He issued a stern warning to criminal elements to leave the state, emphasising the corps’ commitment to ensuring a safe environment for law-abiding citizens.
