The Kogi State Police Commissioner, Bertrand Onuoha, has said that the police will be neutral in all political activities and be fair to all political parties contesting for the Nov 11th governorship election in the state.

The police boss who expressed worry that his name was been frequently mentioned by a particular political party of taking side with the ruling party, said nothing could be farther from the truth as he and indeed all his officers and men under his command have demonstrated the highest professional ethic by not allowing themselves to be used by anyone.
He however said the police under him , will not fold their hands and allow unscrupulous people cause any form of break down of law and order and warned desperate politicians to abide by the rule of the game .

Onuoha who gave this indication while parading some suspected criminals at the state command called on all the political players to allow the fear of God guides them in whatever they do saying power is very transient and that anything anyone does will be accountable to God some day.

In his words:” As for me I allow my conscience and most especially the fear of God to direct me in all I do, because no matter any position you are occupying today, someone else has occupied it before and some one will also occupy it after you, but what you do with that position, you will surely be accountable to God”

To the thugs, he said:
” Why must you kill or maim your fellow men because of somebody? Remember that election will soon be over and sooner or later your master will dispense you off and if not, time will surely dispense you off” he added.

Earlier, the Police Commissioner on Tuesday paraded three suspects for raising false alarm that led to the lynching of a man accused of snatching their manhood.

The suspects, Harish Abdurasheed,18; Yakubu Mohammed, 25; and Haruna Adamu, 28, all of Hausa descent living in Ayetoro Gbede, were said to have been arrested at Ayetoro Gbede in Kabba/Ijumu Local govt area of the state.

They were among the nine suspects arrested for various offences ranging from armed robbery, thuggery, and stealing.

In an interview with newsmen, one of the suspects, the 25-year-old Yakubu Mohammed said the deceased, an Okada rider, Usman Abubarkar, was his friend who came to say hello to him and others, Harish and Haruna.

According to him, the deceased shook hands with three of them after which they all felt a sensation in their manhood; they quickly raised the alarm and also reported to the police and the Hausa community leaders.

According to him both the community leaders they reported to and the police said they could not help them, and they left for home.

“We were sleeping when suddenly policemen arrived and accused them of raising false alarm and that the man had been lynched,” Haruna said.

Other suspects paraded include , ThankGod Joseph and Monday Mathew who were arrested for armed robbery in Ofu.

Items recovered from the suspects include, one single barrel gun, three cutlasses/knives, five palm oil jerrycans as well as several charms.

The state police commissioner added that all suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
