A Right Activist and Executive Director Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, Idris Abdul Miliki has called on the Kogi State Government to constitute an Independent Investigation panel to unravel the bomb explosion that occured in Okene on Friday which led to the death of four people.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in lokoja, the Activist said the explosion which occured almost at the same time President Muhammadu Buhari was visiting the state for the first time was worrisome and condemnable.
The statement reads:
“The Explosion that occurred in Okene, on the 29 December 2022, during the first official visit of president Muhammadu Buhari Is worrisome, unfortunate and condemnable.
” While we await the reports of various security agencies on the avoidable incident, we also sympathize with the families of the affected person. it is regrettable that such act could take place when the president was officially visiting the state and this makes it more worrisome.
“This development is frightening as we have less than 60 days to the 2023, general Elections in Nigeria. We call on security agencies to put all measures in place, to avoid future occurrence of such unfortunate and embarrassing circumstances that we found ourselves in the state” the statement added.
