The Catholic priest of Otukpo Diocese in Benue state, Rev. Fr Mark Ojotu, who was kidnapped in some days back, has been released after three days in captivity.
The Commissioner of police in the state, CP Wale Abass, who disclosed this in Makurdi the state capital, said his release followed pressures mounted on the kidnappers.
Ojotu, the Chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital, Okpoga, in Okpokwu Local Government Area, LGA, of the state, was kidnapped on 22 December, 2022, at about 5.00pm along Okpoga-Ojapo Road,
The diocese quickly reported the matter and called on all Christ’s Faithful to earnestly pray for his quick and safe release.
Confirming his release in a text message, CP Abass, through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, said, “Rev. Fr. Mark Ojotu has been released by his kidnappers due to pressure mounted on them.”
As at the time of filing this report on Sunday afternoon, the police said he was receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital.
