Former Senate President Ken Nnamani has firmly rejected claims made by Senator Elisha Abbo on Arise News, calling them “false, unfounded, and fabricated.”
Abbo, in a Prime Time interview with Charles Aniagolu, alleged his legal troubles stemmed from judicial mismanagement and claimed Nnamani visited him to plead for a judge.
Nnamani, in a weekend press statement, dismissed the story. “This statement is a blatant lie. I do not know how Senator Abbo can boldly fabricate an event that never happened to buttress his allegation of judicial miscarriage,” he said. He denied ever visiting Abbo or discussing legal matters.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I have never visited Senator Elisha Abbo at his house or anywhere. Up to this moment, I do not know where he lives. I have never discussed with him about his case or any case pending or decided by any court of law in Nigeria,” he clarified.
He recalled their only meeting. “The only meeting between the two took place at my own residence during what I described as a social visit initiated by Abbo himself. At this meeting, we never discussed his case or any case,” Nnamani added.
He lamented the spread of falsehoods. “I know that this is a season of political drama. But I do not expect that someone of the rank of a former Senator could create such a falsehood to embellish a story, unmindful of the harm he causes to other people,” he said. Nnamani called it disheartening that a former senator would use “pathetic lies.”
Nnamani hinted at legal steps. “While I am contemplating legal action for what I described as libellous statements, I urge the public to disregard the allegations entirely,” he stated. “Please totally disregard Senator Abbo’s falsehoods. They are pathetic lies.”
He reaffirmed his values. “I believe I have had a sterling and distinguished public service career. I am determined to maintain my integrity and commitment to excellence till the end of my life. It is too late to be entangled with such frivolities and manipulations in Senator Abbo’s false narratives,” Nnamani concluded.
