From Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin Kebbi
The Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unanimously resolved to merge with any political platform to dislodge the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, both at the state and national levels.
At its stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday, the party expressed optimism that its national body would resolve all lingering issues before it.
According to the chairman of the occasion, Ciroman Kebbi, Dr Ibrahim Mera, who conducted a vote for the resolution, other issues ratified by the party in the state include holding an early congress if agreed by the national level and a commitment to work for the betterment of the party in the state.
Earlier, the leader of the party and PDP gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general election, General (retd) Aminu Bande, expressed dismay over the economic hardship being experienced in the state and the country at large.
Bande called on party loyalists to remain resolute in expressing their opinions on governance, asserting that it is their right.
He dismissed what he described as the witch-hunting of PDP members in the state by the APC government, calling it “undemocratic and a major setback in the development of the state”.
Bande also announced that the party has taken legal action against three PDP senators who defected to the APC in the state, as well as four members of the state assembly.
