Katsina Governor Umar Dikko Radda has awarded himself a pass mark for the state’s budget execution.
“Our budget is one of the shining examples in the country’s budget performance for 2024, which I believe we have executed extremely well,” he said on Wednesday at the Government House while assenting to the 2025 Appropriation Bill from the House of Assembly.
The budget reflects an increase of ₦10 billion from the initial ₦682.244 billion earlier proposed to the House.
The Governor lauded the Legislature for “working tirelessly to ensure the state has a budget that will drive developmental activities for the year 2025.”
He noted that the 2025 budget prioritises capital projects, with education taking the lead, followed by agriculture, adding that the capital projects will make citizens more self-reliant, improve living conditions, and reduce poverty levels.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya Daura, described the 2025 budget as a product of a rigorous legislative process.
According to him, “after a careful review during the budget defence by the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, an additional ₦10 billion was discovered and added to the budget.”
“We are confident that, with this budget, more progress will be recorded across the state,” he said.
