The Kano-Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has flagged off the training of stakeholders on how to operate their latest automated clearance application, otherwise known as the B-Odogwu window system.
The training, which was conducted at the Bompai headquarters of the Command, attracted a host of stakeholders in the area, including importers, customs clearing agents, and terminal operators, among others.
Speaking at the occasion, the Area Comptroller of Customs, Dalhatu Abubakar, explained that the training was designed to acquaint their stakeholders with how to conduct their transactions using the new automated application.
He explained that the new application, which was wholly designed by officers of the NCS, was transparent and highly effective for customs clearance procedures.
He insisted that the application would lead to better compliance and a faster clearance timeline for importers and agents operating at the nation’s borders and ports.
He expressed satisfaction with the performance of stakeholders during the demonstration exercise, adding that they were catching up with the training.
While anticipating a number of challenges along the way, he assured that several help teams have been set up at different posts within the Command to assist importers and agents who may experience difficulties while conducting their transactions with the new application.
He charged the media to continue to sensitise the public, particularly their stakeholders, about the new application.
