Governor Yusuf is challenging the judgment of the Court of Appeal which, about a month ago, had affirmed the nullification of his election victory by the Kano State governorship election tribunal.

The three-member panel, led by Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay, had declared the APC candidate in the governorship election, Nasiru Gawuna, the winner of the poll in the state

The tribunal had sacked Yusuf on the grounds that his name was not included in the register of party members sent by his ward  to the Independent National Electoral Commission as well as the fact that about 165,663 votes cast in his favour were not stamped, signed and dated as provided by the Electoral Act.
