From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the reinstatement of Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado as the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).
The Governor directed him to immediately return to the office to complete his five-year tenure which was stalled following his suspension by the previous administration in the state.
A statement signed by the spokesperson of the Governor, Sanusi Bature, said his reinstatement was in compliance with the order of the National Industrial Court.
It could be recalled that the National Industrial Court had recently ordered his reinstatement after he had dragged the government to court.
Justice Ebeye David Eseimo, while delivering the judgement on the matter, concurred that the suspended chairman was denied the right of a fair hearing as enshrined in the constitution.
He observed that the defunct State House of Assembly lacked the powers to sack or recommend the sack of the claimant with recourse to a fair hearing.
Muhuyi, a card-carrying member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), was deeply involved in the 2023 political contest in the state.
A cross-section of respondents who spoke to Daily Sun expressed concern that having engaged in active politics in the just concluded elections, he might be unable to discharge his assignment impartially to the various persuasions of the state.
