Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
Yusuf made this pledge while receiving the wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs. Elizabeth Kayode Egbetokun, who led the executive members of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) on a courtesy visit to his office.
Yusuf stressed his continuous support for the police in effectively discharging their duties.
“We remain steadfast in supporting the police and other security agencies because the safety of lives and property is critical to the progress and well-being of our people,” he said.
“Our administration will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure a secure environment in Kano State,” he added.
The Governor commended the visitor for her dedication to improving the welfare of police officers and their families, describing her initiatives as reflective of the national efforts spearheaded by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to uplift women across the country.
As a demonstration of his administration’s support, Governor Yusuf graciously approved the allocation of land and financial support for the construction of a POWA Secretariat in Kano.
Earlier, the wife of the IGP and POWA President, Elizabeth Kayode Egbetokun, explained that their visit was to update the Governor on POWA’s activities in the state, which include an empowerment programme and the commissioning of a health centre in Panshekara.
She lauded the state government for its strides in empowering women and called for stronger collaboration to enhance the economic well-being of POWA members, ensuring a secure and prosperous future for their families.
