Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu of the Kano State High Court has fixed July 4 for hearing of pending applications and the originating motion in the case of the state Attorney General, Speaker of the state House of Assembly and the state assembly versus Aminu Ado Bayero and the four other emirs of Kano, Gaya, Bichi, Rano and Karaye.

When the case came up in court, yesterday, Counsel to the applicant, Eyitayo Fatogun, notified the court that he only received the five processes at about 6.30pm on July 1.

“My Lord, we received the respondent’s five processes yesterday evening, and we have filed all our responses. We urge the court to give us 30 minutes to stand down to enable us to serve the respondent with our responses,” he prayed.

However, Counsel to the respondent, Abdul Muhammed, opposed the request for a 30 minute stand down and rather  sought for an adjournment of the case to a future date. On account of this, the judge decided to adjourn the case to July 4 for hearing of all pending applications, including the originating motion.

The applicants, through their counsel, Ibrahim Isah-Wangida Esq, had filed a motion ex parte on May 27, where he sought for an order restraining the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado-Bayero, and four others dethroned emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye from parading themselves as emirs.
