Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State, Mohammed Rabiu, has charged officers to go after the criminals, “even though we have made success and arrested 27 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and recovered sophisticated weapons in their hideouts.”
He said at the Inspector General of Police [IGP] conference in Abuja: “We have been tackling criminals. Today, Kaduna is safe and peacefully. Yet, we are still waging war against the criminals with other sister security agencies. Within three months, the command recorded a great success.
“In February, it was a harvest of arrests as over 580 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers were nabbed. We rescued 30 kidnapped victims in the bush near Doka village in Kajuru LG. In March, we arrested 20 suspected criminals terrorising Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
“In April, operatives of the Anti–Kidnapping Unit (AKU), in conjunction with the Office of the National Security Adviser [ONSA], successfully rescued 17 victims abducted on March 3, 2025, from Sarkin Pawa, Niger State. We intercepted a commercial Volkswagen Sharan vehicle at the Kawo Central Motor Park, Kaduna, with 21 fabricated Ak47 rifles concealed within the vehicle.
“The operation notably achieved through a non-kinetic approach evidences the commitment of the IGP Olukayode Egbetokun to leveraging intelligence-led policing and inter-agency synergy to address security challenges. “The Police Division, Tafa, mobilised a surveillance team and arrested two suspected kidnappers. They confessed have involvement in series of operations. Police Division in Saminaka arrested two notorious suspected kidnappers in Lamido village, Lere LG.
“Also, Divisional Police Station in Ikara arrested two suspected kidnappers and recovered two fabricated AK47 rifles. Operatives on patrol routine along Kauru—Pambegba Road arrested two suspects.
“Our success reflects the dedication of our officers and men and their commitment to proactive policing, collaboration with sister security agencies and community engagement with useful information. Officers should take community policing with all seriousness, develop good relationship with members of the public and build confidence.
“We want to thank the people, traditional rulers, youths, community and religious leaders for given useful information which enable the command and other sister agencies to flush criminals out of the state. Also, we want thank the state government for supporting us with operational vehicle.”
