Lawmakers at the federal and state levels have been urged to put in front things that strengthen the unity of Nigeria and its development against their personal interest.
They were also asked to strengthen their oversight, which is a constitutional duty, and fast-tracking other legislative actions that would ensure the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people.

Comrade Prince Miaphen, the coordinator of the Renewed Hope Advocates of Nigeria, is at an occasion to mark the 2025 Democracy Day in Abuja.
He made reference to the cordial relationship between the President and members of the National Assembly led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, which, according to them, has been responsible for the achievements made so far.
He said: “The current synergy between President Tinubu and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has been instrumental to the stability of government and the swift implementation of key reform policies.
“Unlike in previous administrations when inter-arm rivalry disrupted governance and hampered policy harmonization, today we are seeing a smooth, coordinated drive towards Nigeria’s development.”
Comrade Miaphen further noted that in the past, discord between the legislature and executive frequently led to legislative gridlock, budget delays, and aborted reforms that undermine public confidence in democracy
He emphasized that the maturity and mutual understanding exhibited by President Tinubu and Senate President Akpabio had ensured not only smoother passage of executive bills but also swift legislative oversight of reforms critical to reviving Nigeria’s economy.
He highlighted landmark legislations and policy alignments made possible through the synergy to include the early passage of the national budget, supportive legislation for the economic reform agenda, tax reforms, investment protection frameworks, and the facilitation of critical infrastructure bills all aimed at addressing Nigeria’s long-term developmental goals.
Miaphen also noted that the partnership had facilitated bold economic reforms, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and foreign exchange unification, as well as social investment schemes to cushion the effects of these policies. “These initiatives would have been more difficult to actualize under a hostile legislative environment.
“The Senate under Akpabio has shown tremendous cooperation with President Tinubu’s government without being subservient. They have remained faithful to their legislative duties of scrutinizing, amending, and passing laws while constructively engaging the Executive to ensure Nigerians reap the dividends of democracy,” he noted.
Miaphen called for more support from Nigerians to the Tinubu-led administration, noting that no reform policy could produce immediate results without patience and sacrifice.
He affirmed that the current hardship being experienced due to subsidy removal and monetary reforms would soon give way to a new dawn of prosperity, as long as the government continues to receive legislative support.
Comrade Miaphen called on lawmakers at all levels to follow the leadership example set by Senator Akpabio by focusing on national interest, prioritizing oversight, and fast-tracking legislative actions in line with the vision of President Tinubu
He concluded by stating that the Renewed Hope Advocates of Nigeria remains committed to defending the gains of democracy and standing with the Tinubu-led administration in its journey toward a stable, secure, and prosperous Nigeria.
