Nzuko Umunna, a prominent Igbo think tank, has demanded the immediate release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results for candidates from the South East, following the controversial delay and technical issues that marred the process.
In a statement signed by its President, Professor Chinedu Nebo, and Executive Secretary, Dr. Uju Agomoh, the group decried what it described as a disturbing saga surrounding the JAMB results, particularly for South Eastern candidates.
They alleged that the incident may be part of a broader pattern of systemic bias that could potentially affect other national examinations if left unchallenged.
“Some of us in the academia and other realms have been networking to ensure that the now notorious ‘glitch’, which has become a classic alibi for selective mutilation of processes, is not allowed to truncate the future of our children,” the statement read.
While acknowledging the apology tendered by the JAMB Registrar, Nzuko Umunna expressed concern over the decision to fix retake examinations less than 48 hours after the board admitted to its faults.
“As at today, 16th May 2025, many of our children are being made to retake the UTME. We strongly insist that no such occurrence should happen in future,” the group stated.
