The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has refuted the claim that it has fixed May 27 as date for the resumption of Continuous Voters Registration (CVR), transfers and replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The electoral umpire made the clarification following the circulating online information claiming that it will resume the CVR and other related services on May 27, 2025.

Dismissing the viral trending message, INEC, in a statement on Sunday by Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, described it as a misleading fake message, urging Nigerians to disregard it since it is not from the commission.

“INEC wishes to inform the general public that it has not yet announced any date for the resumption of the CVR, Transfer and Replacement of lost PVCs.

“The commission, therefore, urges the public to disregard the fake, anonymous statement making the rounds, claiming that the CVR and other associated services will resume on 27th May 2025.”

The electoral umpire equally assured Nigerians that as it is customary, the date for the resumption of voter registration will be announced officially through proper channels.

“In line with its tradition, the commission will publicly announce the date for the resumption of the CVR at the appropriate time, the full details of which will also be shared via our official social media platforms,” the statement read.
