Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has enjoined Nigerians in the Diaspora to unite and tackle the challenges facing the nation.
“One of the ways to tackle our challenge is to actively participate in the 2023 general elections by helping to entrench credible leaders through the ballot,” he said.
Kalu stated this during a breakfast meeting with Nigerians and students of War College, Washington D.C, who are of Nigerian origin, at his Potomac residence, Maryland, United States
The former governor charged them to be good Ambassadors of Nigeria.
“You have a duty, which is to be good Ambassadors of Nigeria. Secondly, the 2023 general elections are around the corner. You must actively participate in it by supporting only credible candidates.”
Kalu said Nigerians at all times must work in cohesion and unity of purpose to confront and deal with the nation’s challenges, especially nationalism and patriotism.
“Our strength as a nation cannot be overemphasised. Nigeria is a great nation, therefore, we must unite to tackle our challenges as a nation.”
The former governor of Abia State, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law, the Amended Electoral Act Bill.
“President Buhari has proven to Nigerians that he is a committed democrat and a reliable leader with the much-sorted Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and now the Electoral Act Amendment Bill signed into law.”
These laws, he said, would put the country on the right footing for economic and political development
He applauded President Buhari’s patriotism and visionary leadership style, maturity and wisdom on national discourse, and for providing a rallying point for the future of the country. He said President Buhari has proved to Nigerians that he is a committed leader whose love for the nation’s democratic development and advancement is never in doubt.
