Stakeholders from Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State have given their endorsement to Governor Hope Uzodinma for a second term, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections approaching in a few weeks.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders at a press conference in Owerri on Wednesday, Chairman Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Chief Victor Muruako, emphasised the governor’s good works and achievements that make him deserving of another term.
“In recognition of the sincerity and great works of His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma as Governor of Imo State, I hereby urge Ndi Imo to continue to support His Excellency for a second tenure,” said Muruako.
“I request that he be encouraged to continue the good works of which we are witnesses. For the records, this includes, but is not limited to improvement in general security, improved sense of responsibility in the management of public resources, massive infrastructural works, improved welfare services and many others too numerous to mention.”
Muruako urged Imo citizens to come together and support Uzodinma for a second term, regardless of their differences. “Please, let us all, as lovers of our dear state sink our differences and support Hope Uzodinma for a second term, come November,” he said.
Muruako also congratulated President-elect Bola Tinubu on his victory in the presidential polls, stating that he is confident the nation will benefit from Tinubu’s rich experience, capability, and mental strength.
“I will not miss the opportunity to express my appreciation to Nigerians for electing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shetima as the President and Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, respectively,” he said.
“I have no doubt that the nation stands to benefit immensely from their rich experience, capability and mental strength.”
Muruako noted that Tinubu has a track record of bridge-building, national healing, and development economics, evidenced by his time as Governor of Lagos State.
With the APC primary elections in Imo State drawing near, the endorsement from stakeholders in Owerri West is a significant boost for Governor Uzodinma’s reelection bid.
