The Lagos chapter of the Okporo Community Development Assembly (OCDA) in Imo State has concluded activities marking its 25th anniversary celebration, outlining its accomplishments over the years.

President of the association, Chinaka Okani, while reflecting on the association’s achievements over the years, said, “Today, we celebrate our journey, our achievements, and look forward to the years ahead with optimism. We must continue to uphold the oneness and unity that bind us together as people with one God.”

Okani also acknowledged the importance of recognising individuals who have contributed to the success and growth of OCDA Lagos.

“We awarded people whose imprints will always remain memorable,” he added.

The completion of the Okporo House within one year in office, as promised, was highlighted as a significant achievement. Uniting the nine villages of Okporo under one indivisible Okporo Community Development Assembly was also noted as a major accomplishment.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Leo Agumbah, commended the resilience of members, saying, “Truly, Ndi-Okporo have been bonding as one. We salute and commend the resilience of members for all these years.”

Mrs. Julie Chikezie, chairperson of OCDA, emphasised the importance of community harmony, peace, and patriotism. “This event celebrates not only the resilience of Okporo people but also their ability to defy distractions and challenges in reaching their goals.”

The event featured the presentation of awards to deserving members in the following categories, which include the Most Outstanding Unifier Village, the Most Organised Compliant Village, Best Village Leadership, and Team Spirit Award.

It also witnessed a raffle draw where lucky winners rejoiced and expressed gratitude.

In the women’s category, Mrs Joy Nnadi took home the first prize, a 50kg bag of rice, while Mrs Chinyere Ibenye won the second prize, a carton of Kings Oil. The third prize, a carton of spaghetti, was won by Mr. Izu Irawo.

In the men’s category, Mrs. Martha Duru emerged as the first prize winner, taking home a 43-inch LG Television. The second prize, a gas cooker, was won by Mrs Uchenna Nwokedi, while Lady Onyinye Okani won the third prize, a 50kg bag of rice.

With its 25th anniversary celebration, the association has reaffirmed its dedication to unity, harmony, and the well-being of its members.
