Chuks Onuoha, Umuahia

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has said he does not have any personal problem with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, order than the fact that he lacks the capacity to govern the state.

Otti, who said he was propelled by love in his quest to rescue Abia State, told a large crowd of Abia youths, who gathered in Umuahia, last Thursday, to celebrate the Valentine’s Day with him and his wife, at an event, “Valentine with Alex and Priscilla,” that Ikpeazu is a product of godfatherism and, therefore, malleable and susceptible to manipulation.

He said governor Ikpeazu, with his limited capacity, coupled with the alleged overbearing influence of his godfather, T. A. Orji, had done the best he could for Abia State and, unfortunately, his best was not good enough, and, therefore, does not have any need to aspire to lead the state for a second term.

Otti said: “We do not have any problem with him as a person, but, we have problem with his ideas. We have problem with his vision or lack thereof. We have problems with his leadership quality, again, or lack thereof. He has done his best. Our verdict, as Abia people, is that his best is not good enough.

“Everybody does his best in his first term, so, if this (the state of Abia today) is his best, then, begin to think of what will happen if, in the very unlikely event, you let him have a second term; he will go to bed.”

Meanwhile, the Abia State N-Power Focal Person and an aide of governor Ikpeazu on social investment, Chinenye Nwogu, has said the governor and himself are not involved in  a video of an alleged fake election result, in favour of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), currently trending online.

A video, which is currently trending online, and other documents bearing the letterhead of governor Ikpeazu  were alleged to have been found in the custody of one of the N-Power beneficiaries in the state,  Felix Obisike.

Nwogu, who addressed the press in Umuahia, yesterday, refuted the allegation and described the video as a scam and blackmail against the Abia State government and his person. He said an SMS was purportedly sent from the office of the Special Adviser to the President on N-Power, last Thursday, asking N-Power beneficiaries in the state to appear at 1 Item Street, Umuahia, the campaign office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) factional governorship candidate, Uche Ogah, for a meeting.

According to him, there was  no such meeting, as Gaius,  one of the beneficiaries of the N-power programme, who went to the venue was allegedly manhandled and made to call the N-Power Ambassador, Obisike, to the place. He said it was there that Obisike was lured and manhandled to ensure he indicted him (Nwogu) and the governor of Abia State.

Nwogu also claimed that the sheet of paper found in Obisike’s custody was pulled from one of the pocket suits of his abductors, who forced  him to make confessional statements.

But, in a swift reaction, a Media Director in Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah’s Campaign Council, Joshua Ogbonna, said security operatives were after Nwogu for his alleged roles in rigging and preparation of election results, a day before the election. He challenged Nwogu to surrender himself to the Department of State Services (DSS) if he claims to be innocent of all the allegations.

“The result found on Obisike showed that all the candidates of PDP in the state are winners of the election, even before it was conducted. It is Nwogu that is behind it and so, he should show up to clear himself, instead of hiding inside Government House Umuahia, issuing statements that cannot exonerate him from the crime.”
