Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Mr. Mamman Giwa, has declared war against criminals, warning them to relocate from the state: “It will be too hot for them, as we have arrested 17 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists.
The CP spoke at the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja: “My vision is to tackle criminals and flush them out. My mission is to configure the security architecture to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of personnel; to be professional and respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens.
“The command will imbibe community policing by showing commitment and professionalism. We have improved our relationship with members of the public. I have visited flashpoints where the criminals always operate.
“I redeployed tactical team operatives to flush criminals out of the state. We raided their hideouts along Enugu-Awka expressway, Enugu-Abakaliki expressway and Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway. I have declared war on criminals.
“Operatives arrested another set of armed robbers in Ogbeke-Nike, Opi-Nsukka and Enugu axis. Police tactical team arrested suspected kidnappers terrorising communities in Agbani Road and Orji River. We raided their hideouts and recovered dangerous weapons.
“I have warned officers to shun corruption, illegal duties and respect rights of the citizens. They should imbibe community policing to fight criminals. We are ready to work with out sister agencies, vigilante groups and hunters to fight criminals.
“We need the support of the Igwe, community leaders, youths and other stakeholders to ensure a crime-free state.
“IGP Olukayode Egbetokun’s vision is to fight crime and criminality, uphold justice and fairness, protect human dignity and restore standard and values. We will engage in robust and effective human and technical intelligence gathering process to enhance capacity personnel.”
