Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25 suspected armed robbers kidnappers and cultists. It also recovered arms and ammunition from their various hideouts.
Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, who spoke at the Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja, said: “My vision is to configure the security architecture to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of personnel to be professional and respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens.
“The command will imbibe community policing by showing commitment to professionalism. We have improved our relationship with members of the public.
“Ogun state is too hot for criminals to operate. We have dealt with armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists. During an encounter with these hoodlums, they abandoned their arms at the scene of crime.
“This year will be too hard for hoodlums to carry out operations. We have some black spots on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Ijebu/Ore Expressway and Sagamu/Ijebu Expressway. The command carried out massive raids on hideouts especially on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
“Police operatives arrested suspected armed robbers terrorising Abeokuta and Sagamu. The Anti-Kidnapping Squad foiled kidnap attempts and arrested some suspects.
“Officers are to shun corruption and illegal duties. Anyone caught will face the Police Act. They should imbibe community policing in carrying out their duties.
“IGP Olukayode Egbetokun’s vision is to fight crime and criminality, uphold justice, fairness, protect human dignity and restore standard and values. We will engage in robust and effective human and technical intelligence gathering process to enhance the capacity of personnel.
“Officers should conduct themselves with decorum and be at alert. The command will harness all available assets. We need the support of Oba, community leaders, students, stakeholders and our sister agencies to flush out hoodlums out of the state.
