Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde is not just a seasoned professional or political figure; he’s a harmonious blend of both. His journey has been a rich tapestry of engineering prowess, architectural brilliance and dedicated public service. As a distinguished engineer, architect and politician, his varied forays endowed him with a plethora of skills and experiences. Abegunde started from a civil engineering background, enlarged his scope with architectural studies before finally moving into public service, starting at the esteemed chambers of the Nigeria’s House of Representatives representing Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency as a two-term lawmaker. He is also a former Secretary to Ondo State Government while the Akure-born technocrat is now the Executive Director, Corporate Services, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

As a professional, Abegunde’s career spanned across international borders to the USA, where he showcased his technical prowess as a Systems Engineer for both the State of Maryland and the United States Patent and Trade Organization. While in politics, his commitment to the public good has been evident. On Thursday January 9, Abegunde got his positive testimonial when he finally joined the septuagenarians’ club. On that landmark day, associates and well-wishers, including the President and other dignitaries across the country heaped encomiums on Abegunde for his life accomplishments and contributions to mankind. Blessed with an ever-smiling demeanour, quietude and composed nature, the man fondly called Abena on Friday January 10 celebrated his platinum jubilee with elegance and style.
