The Enugu West senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly election conducted penultimate Saturday, Mrs Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu, has rejected the result of the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Senator Ike Ekweremadu the winner of Enugu West senatorial election.
But Ibekaku-Nwagwu while addressing newsmen at the APC secretariat in Enugu, yesterday, said she would contest the result at the tribunal.
She alleged that the election was characterised by gross irregularities including outright hijacking of ballot boxes and ballot papers, non-use of smart card readers, indiscriminate thumb printing of ballot papers by individuals who disguised as INEC officials and rampant vote-buying and inducement of the electorate.
The former Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Justice Reform, however, thanked the people of Enugu West for their support throughout the campaign and during the election. “I assure you that your votes will count,” she noted.
