Al Nassr forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has said he won’t play in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
The 40-year-old disclosed that he received offers from some of the participating clubs but decided against playing in the expanded competition scheduled for kick-off on Saturday.
“I will not be at the Club World Cup,” the five-time Ballon D’Or winner said.
Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr expires at the end of June.
In May, he posted “this chapter is over” on social media after the club’s last league game.
The Portugal captain has been linked with Al Hilal, which will participate in the Club World Cup in the United States.
However, he maintained he was not interested in making a short-term decision which would allow him to play in the competition.
He said, “Some teams reached out to me. Some made sense and others did not, but you can’t try and do everything, you can’t catch every ball.”
