A 27-year-old man, Yusuf Baoku, yesterday, confessed that he joined Alora’s secret cult when he returned to Nigeria from Dubai, where he was playing professional football.
The suspect was paraded with Ajayi Ismail (42) by the Osun State Police Command.
The command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said the suspects were apprehended in connection with a case of attempted murder of one Ajayi David and assault of one Tiamiyu Adesola, a student of Igbajo Polytechnic.
Baoku, who explained that he came to Nigeria for treatment of his leg injury, confessed that he was a member of Alora’s secret cult.
He said: “I belonged to Alora. I came from Dubai. I’m a footballer in Dubai. I have friends who I met when I came to Nigeria and they introduced me to the cult.”
The police also paraded John Michael (34), Alabi Ajewole (53), and Oloko Christopher (54), for snatching Toyota Corolla 2006 and 2004 models at gunpoint in Osun and sold them to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where the cars were retrieved.
She explained that Adebayo Adedayo (30), and Adeyemi Sodiq (37) conspired to rob a POS operator by hitting him with a stick and carted away his terminals, recharge cards, power bank, and a cash sum of N20,000, all valued at N877,000. Opalola said recharge cards worth N462,200 and Oraimo power bank stolen from the complainant were recovered.
The police further alleged that 28-year-old Adeniyi Adesina, a member of the Aye Confraternity, was arrested in connection with a case of burglary/stealing at St. Francis Hostel in Esa-oke town.
Also, a 22-year-old Oladele Pamilerin was said to have confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity at Ilesa town, and also involved in the killings in the town.
A suspected cultist, Samson Olukitibi (28), was apprehended in connection with a case of murder of one late Segun Agbadayi, at a mall shopping complex, because of a fraud transaction that involved them in Ilesa.
The police also paraded two suspects, Habeeb Olatunde (24) and Kareem Samad (25), with the support of hunters, and the unregistered motorcycle was found in their possession.
